Biography
Following a year of personal and professional evolution, LVVRS (“lovers”) is set to release their sophomore EP, Heaven and the Heartland, in May of 2025. The lead single, “The Love You Gave Me,” dropping January 24, 2025, marks a new chapter for the band, blending heartfelt storytelling with their signature larger-than-life sound.
Since their Valentine’s Day inception in 2018, the Louisiana-based band has captivated audiences with their blend of infectious pop hooks, rock ’n’ roll swagger, and dynamic live performances. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Maroon 5, INXS, the shimmering glam of T. Rex, and The 1975, the band crafts songs that each boast their own distinct sound and personality—a remarkable achievement in today’s music landscape. Often likened to Michael Hutchence for his commanding vocal presence and moves, front man and guitarist River Gibson drives the sonic force of LVVRS. Under his lead, the band seamlessly blends gritty guitar riffs with club-ready beats, crafting a sound that is as cinematic as it is anthemic.
The LVVRS' debut EP, Midnight Fantasy (2024), solidified their status as a force in the modern music landscape. The EP’s breakout single, “Iconic,” gained airplay on alternative radio stations like WZRH-FM and featured the band on KADN News FOX15 in Lafayette, LA. Additionally, the music video for the song, “Fever Night,” from the album earned the prestigious won “Best Music Video” at the 2024 Josie Music Awards at Nashville’s Grand ‘Ole Opry last October.
LVVRS’ music has also found its way into pop culture, with tracks like “Alive” featured in Netflix’s Love Is Blind (Season 4) and “Hypnotic Love” in The Ultimatum (Season 1). Additionally, the band made a cameo in the Zac Efron and Lily James film Iron Claw, underscoring their ability to cross into cinematic storytelling.
Antigravity Magazine described the EP as “a record designed for dance floors and Top 40 radio stations,” highlighting LVVRS’ ability to merge timeless themes—love, sex and narcissism—with a fresh, contemporary sound. The outlet went on to praise the offering, adding, “Featuring driving drum lines and ubiquitous synth, the five-song release remixes disco pop with a rock influence to create a familiar sound, albeit somewhat out of the ordinary for a band hailing from the Dirty South.”
The group has other numerous accolades, including winning the grand prize at the 2023 Louisiana Music Prize, taking home the $10,000 cash award, and Song of the Year at last year’s Ozone Songwriter’s Festival for forthcoming new single, “The Love You Gave Me.”
Renowned for their electrifying stage presence, LVVRS clocks in over 60 shows annually, gracing iconic venues like Antone’s in Austin and The Masquerade in Atlanta. On April 25, they are set to make their second appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
From intimate club gigs to playing festivals like Festival International de Louisiane—the largest international music festival in the United States that draws crowds of up to 500,000—LVVRS continues to prove they are as unstoppable on stage in the pop-rock scene as they are in the studio.
